We had a good appointment with Dr. Hasselman, Matthew's cardiologist, yesterday. His echo and EKG looked great. The tech doing the echo was able to show me how the Glenn is working and I was able to see the blood flowing through his pulmonary arteries. It was very interesting to watch how his heart is functioning.
I'm glad to say they can't find anything wrong with Matthew. I wish we knew why he keeps crying. They believe his fussiness is contributed to the Clonidine patch (we reduced it to half a patch) and he may be having some lingering headaches from the new blood flow. Dr. Hasselman is also starting to wean some of his other medications. Unfortunately, we came home on more medicine than what he was taking before surgery. By summer, Matthew should be off most of them!!! Dr. Hasselman said to give him another week or two and he should be a different baby.
Matthew was the hit of the office yesterday, he was grinning and talking to everybody (trying to make a liar out of his Mom). Everybody kept commenting on how pink he looks. We enjoyed visiting with the office. They take such an interest in our little boy. We are so blessed and privileged to have such a good hospital and great doctors right here in Peoria. We can't say enough about all of the nurses that have taken care of Matthew. They have truly been amazing.
Thanks for your prayers. We are hoping to get outside and enjoy this warm weather God has given us today. We will try to post some pictures later.
