Matthew had another good day today. He had a lot of calm awake time which is exciting. The scan of his kidneys came back ok and the colic or whatever pain he was having seems to be lessening.
Tomorrow is a big day for our little guy. He'll finish up the last of the antibiotics for his intestinal infection and he'll get to eat tomorrow. Mom's planning to be at the hospital bright and early so she can feed him for the first time since last Friday morning. He'll get about 3 ounces of food and then they'll watch him like a hawk to see how he reacts. If he has another bloody stool or starts crying like his stomach hurts they will immediately take an x-ray to see if they can find the source of the problem. Hopefully he'll do just fine.
We're really hoping to get him home by Christmas Eve. We still haven't heard if they'll let him go home on oral antibiotics to finish up treatment for his Staph infection or if they'll keep him and give him the antibiotics through his IV. He'll also need to to have a couple of problem free days eating and be weaned off of some of his current medicine....but we're hoping and praying.
We'll let you know how eating goes in the morning.
