Our prayers are really being answered. Matthew had his eyes open for a large part of the afternoon so Amy got to talk to him before surgery tonight. The chest closing went seamlessly. He will probably retain some extra fluid overnight but his heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation was right back where it should be within 30 minutes after the procedure was done.According to his surgeon Matthew is now starting to exceed all expectations. They were hoping to begin weaning him off of the ventilator on Monday but things went so well today they are going to begin weaning him tomorrow. He was starting to breathe over the ventilator again before the procedure this afternoon so it looks like he's ready to go.
At this point we may actually get him home the Friday after Thanksgiving! My boy is a stud!
