What have we been up to . . . a little of everything. Summer is in full bloom in the Orwig household. Running all over and having fun along the way. Matthew is growing like a weed and has become a toddler (the baby look is gone). He is such a character and has really become a much easier kid. He loves being outside and when I bring him inside it sounds like I'm beating him by the way he screams. He has become very fond of his baseball and bat. He tries to throw it up and swings at it. It is way too cute and too coordinated at this age. Do we have a baseball player on our hands, I think so! I've decided he will play right field. Not as much action so Mommy won't worry about him as much. He loves watching the Cubs games with his Dad. He will sit there for minutes which is a long time for Matthew. We have had a black eye, a swollen nose and two very large scrapes on our chin. Let's just say Matthew is a monkey. The things he climbs amazes me. I took the kids to the park and he climbed the small rock wall that Taylor just figured out last summer. This heart boy has no problems keeping up. Here are a few pictures of the past month.
A little vacuuming for Mommy. This picture is for blackmail when he is a teenager. He loves shoes and especially his sister's pink flip flops. He is a big fan of flip flops but his flip flops have the strap on the back so they don't make the noise when you walk.Taylor's are a lot more fun. Also, please say a little prayer for us. We go see cardiology on the 13th of July for his 6 month appt. I'm sure we will start discussing surgery #3. I'm not ready for that discussion but I'm going to have to face reality. I know it will happen possibly next year but I'm holding out for the following summer. We will see.
What has Taylor been up to . . . Cheer Camp, swimming, the library reading program and lots of playdates. She attended the Metamora Cheer Camp and loved it. It was a way to use up some of her energy and she took some great naps afterwards. It was so cute to see all of those little girls out there. Our babysitter's son is playing football for Metamora this fall so Taylor wants to go watch Sean and Cheer for him. I'm sure this fall we will become some Metamora football fans since we know somebody on the team. Taylor starts preschool this fall and I'm a little emotional about it. I can't believe she is getting this big. She is a girly girl and I'm loving every minute of it. We have become shopping partners. Not sure if Daddy likes it especially when he balances the checkbook but we sure do enjoy it!!!

We have had some fun get togethers we our friends from the PICU. We love seeing them. Matthew and Berkeley are way too funny together. It is amazing to watch them and see how well they are doing and they look wonderful. They are going to be such good buddies. Then there is Selah, what a doll. She has won Taylor's heart. It's making her want a baby sister. I'm not sure we are ready for that. We enjoy the time we spend with all of them. We carry a special bond and have so many of the same memories. Jill and I went scrapbooking last weekend and we stayed up until 1am. We got a lot done and had a great time visiting and eating (our way of staying awake).
As far as Craig and I are concerned, we are working and enjoying the kids. Craig has been traveling a lot with his job but it's good sign that he is so busy. Job security. Craig has to have shoulder surgery on July 22. His 3rd one on this shoulder due to an old football injury. He has to say goodbye to softball and is really struggling with that. I guess that means more golf. I'm afraid the kids are going to struggle with Daddy not being able to wrestle and pick them up for 8 weeks. I guess Mommy will have to learn how to wrestle. Surely, I can be as much fun!
We have a busy weekend. Pool today, Splash Down tomorrow, and Old Settler Days in Metamora this weekend. The kids are going to love it. Well that wraps up our start to summer. Thanks for still checking in on us. I promise I will get better with the postings. Craig just bought me a new camera yesterday and it is a nice one. I can't wait to start using it. I hate the one I bought before Disney. Half my pictures were blurry so he decided to spend a little more money and get me a better one. I think he was tired of hearing me complain. Have a great summer!
