More of the Same...

Matthew is still at a pause in his recovery. His body is a little more swollen again today so they have put him back on diuretics to help him get rid of the extra fluid.

He's also having a hard time expelling carbon dioxide from his body. It is my understanding that this is what is causing the acid levels in his blood to be too high. To counteract this they have given him some extra potassium and sodium bicarbonate. These should work together to neutralize the harmful acidic waste in his blood stream.

We're not getting too concerned at this point, although it is hard not to get discouraged after 2 days of phenomenal progress and now 3 days of stalled recovery.

Please keep Amy in your prayers. The slow progress and long days are really starting to wear her down physically and emotionally.
