A Little Better...

They decided to keep Matthew for another day to make sure he didn't have any more episodes. He had an echocardiagram today that looked good. After ruling out problems with his heart they are now focusing on his stomach. Right now Matthew's milk is being fortified with a high calorie formula to make sure he gains weight. They think it's very possible that the formula is causing him problems that result in a severe belly ache in the evenings.

We've suspected all along that Matthew's crying episodes were something more than just colic. He usually seems to be in physical pain. For now, we're going to try eliminating the high calorie formula from his diet and see if this helps. If this works our worry will, of course, switch to concern about him gaining weight since he'll be taking in fewer calories. There will always be something. It looks like we'll get him back home on Monday.
