Matthew is doing well. His weight is steadily increasing and his blood work and x-rays looked very good today (even the right lung). Our primary concern (there's always something) at this point is that Matthew has developed a lovely case of colic that occurs every evening somewhere between 6 and 10 pm. We had been thinking this was a nasty case of acid reflux which is common among heart babies. Matthew having colic is certainly a bitter irony considering with his heart condition we're not supposed to let him cry for more than a few minutes. When we told the surgeon that his oxygen saturation will sometimes drop into the upper 60's during his colic fits we were told if it happens again we're to immediately take him to the emergency room. He also mentioned that he wants the colic to continue for no more than 2 more days and if it hasn't stopped we need to go back to the pediatrician. It is colic after all, which doesn't have a treatment, so we don't know what we'll do if this doesn't stop in the next 2 days but we're still going to follow orders.
This post is starting to sound grouchy to me so I'll stop here. We're a little tired and frazzled but we're thankful every day that we have Matthew home and we're able to be together.
